Most online PDF tools upload your document to their servers, process it there and send it back. PDF Safehouse works differently: the tools run inside your browser, so your file is never sent anywhere.
What happens when you use a tool
- You choose a file. Your browser opens it from your phone or computer, the same way a photo viewer does.
- The tool works on it in this tab. The code that merges, compresses or converts runs on your own device.
- You save the result. The new file is created on your device and downloaded straight from the tab.
There is no upload step, no copy on a server and nothing to delete afterwards. When you close the tab, the files are gone from memory.
Check it yourself
Open any tool once, then turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data. Choose a file and run the tool. It still works, because nothing needs to be sent.
Why it matters
- Banks, finance and insurance: statements, contracts and customer files stay on your own device and network.
- Lawyers and HR teams: confidential agreements, payslips and personal records are never handed to a third party.
- Everyone: ID copies, medical papers and tax forms stay private.
What we do collect
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and never sees your files. Advertising, if any, is explained on the privacy page. Ads never have access to your files.
Good habits
- Use the tools only at pdfsafehouse.com and check the address bar.
- To hide private information before you share a file, use Redact PDF, not white or black boxes drawn on top.
- Before you email a sensitive document, add a password with Protect PDF and send the password separately.
